About
As comet 3I/ATLAS approaches Earth, many fear it signals destruction.
But I believe it is a return—a visitation from our ancestors in another universe, as I prophesied in NEXEN, part of the Parallel Universe Series.
They come not to end us, but to see if we remember how to love, how to resist forgetting.
I am Hsieh Chun-Te. Since my first solo photography exhibition in 1969, I have worked across disciplines: photography, performance, installation, video, cinema, stage design, and the culinary arts.
I no longer distinguish medium. What I excavate are cultural strata—the ruins of futures yet to come.
My practice is archaeological, but prophetic.
Each layer of work is a stratum: from Lanyu Portraits and Home Scenes, to spirits suspended with pollen, to myths of hermaphroditic bodies, and finally, the arrival of myself and my family—Dao, Red, Lian, Ben, and Lu—returning from a parallel dimension.
I believe: art does not merely represent the world.
It gives form to the unseen, and voice to what has yet to be named.
Art is a summoning.
